Plectica is a visual mapping tool that helps individuals and teams understand, explain, and collaborate on complex information. Based on years of applied research on how we think and learn, Plectica works the way your brain does: by organizing parts that can be combined and connected to each other to form a complete picture. Whether you’re diagramming an internal system, brainstorming new market opportunities, or onboarding new team members to key organizational practices, Plectica helps make things crystal clear.
Plectica is brought to you by a diverse team of academic researchers, experienced engineers, and designers. Our mission is to empower people and teams to model information and complexity of all types, for themselves and their collaborators. We entered an open beta in August of 2017 and our early users hail from New York Times, Disney, Salesforce, Etsy, Stack Overflow, Pinterest, Intuit, L’Oreal, and Vice.
Plectica has a paid, 8 week summer internship program. Interns will work in either New York City or Ithaca, NY.
We do not support remote internships or part time work.
Candidates must be enrolled in a 2 or 4 year college or university program or a graduate program in the U.S. and planning to return to school in the fall semester immediately after the internship.
The core responsibilities for all our interns are to build original maps and map existing content which is owned by or related to the work of our customers and our target markets. In addition to this, we will strive to create a varied portfolio of supplemental work which is tuned to the skills and interests of the candidates.
Selected candidates will be expected to start in the first week of June and continue through the last week of July. We can be flexible on shifting the start and end dates, if this is discussed ahead of time.
We accept applications from candidates after January 15th and make decisions on or before May 30th.
To apply, please submit:
- a one-page letter of interest
- a one-page C.V. including relevant work experience, coursework and grades
- a list of at least 3 references; please include some information on the professional experience and current position of the reference (we will not contact them before speaking with you by phone)
